History grad student wins national award for her novel

Danielle Mead Skjelver, a graduate student in the department of History at the University of North Dakota has won the National Research and Historic Preservation Award for her historic novel  Massacre: Daughter of War: A Novel. Her book is based upon real events and many of the characters are the author’s own ancestors. The award is given by the Daughters of Colonial Wars.
