A healthy tuition waiver program

Steve Bodakowski, a reporter from the local TV station, WDAZ, visited our office yesterday. He took shots of our reception area, our shelf of academic fact sheets, and set up his tripod in our Dean’s office. Why?

Well, as you know, more and more campuses from across the country have turned stricter attention to their budgets, and more and more citizens are concerned how their public schools are spending money. The Graduate School, and UND, recognized the importance of this long ago, and implemented a new budgeting process for our tuition waivers.

That’s why WDAZ came to interview Dean Benoit. Or, as Bodakowski begins his story,

Halfway through the budget year, UND is right on track financially, all while increasing enrollment. A key to that is graduate tuition waivers.

Our tuition waiver program is designed to reward the best and brightest graduate students and to encourage their success in our programs. By facilitating cutting-edge research, this program contributes to the academic strength of our university. And, because we have managed this program well, we are confident that this program will continue to assist graduate students.
